Required skills The welder shall be able to work and pass AWS D1.1 / AWS B2.1 certification with GTAW & GMAW processes. The welder shall be also skill fitter / fabricator and must be able to understand the following concepts:
.Distortion created by welding
.Directional welding
.Shrinkage
.Work with root weld gaps to achieve dimensional results and control weld heat input to minimize cracks in base material
.The welder / fitter shall set-up his/hers welding equipment as required by corresponding WPS
Desired skills .Using crane - magnets, slings, chains, turning / lifting heavy parts, etc.
.Shop knowledge of common hand tools
.Using various supporting tools - square, tape, calipers and feeler gages.
.Using various fitting clamps and jigs - on plates or tubes
.The welder / fitter shall understand the basic Personal Protection Equipment requirements

Standard Job Description Performs welding processes on aluminum and steel parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys. Determines layouts and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
