Req Number 36462BR Job Title 096 Recruiter/Outreach Worker Job Code and Payroll Title 9613: STAFF RESEARCH ASSOC I Job Code and Payroll Title 9613 STAFF RESEARCH ASSOC I Location Laurel Heights and other field locations Department Name Pediatrics Work Days Monday - Friday 8:00 - 5:00 Shift Days Shift Length 8 Hours Job Summary This position will serve as a recruiter for ATN 096: Identifying Undiagnosed Asymptomatic HIV Infection in Hispanic/Latino Adolescents and Young Adults. Incumbent will be responsible for outreach, testing, and giving test results to under-served Latino/a youth populations in San Francisco and parts of Oakland. The incumbent will conduct pre and post counseling; will work with Bay Area Latino/a youth populations with consideration to undocumented populations, non- and gay identified MSM and other vulnerable populations (to include all NIH and UCSF mandates as part of the protocol); will provide based services in order to refer youth needing care into services; will work with 093 linkage coordinator to transition monolingual youth into primary and secondary care services; and other duties as assigned. Note: Position to end 02/29/2012. Required Qualifications BA/BS in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 1+ years directly working with venue based testing and research with high risk adolescents and HIV+ youth; California Pre and Post HIV test Counselor Certification and Rapid Test Proficiency Certification; bilingual in conversational and written Spanish with an emphasis on colloquial Spanish; knowledge of high-risk Latino Youth communities in the Bay Area. The position requires all HIV pre and post counseling certifications and proficiency and knowledge of testing procedures within San Francisco/Alameda counties; certification in OraQuick and OraSure HIV testing; a minimum of 2 years experience directly working with HIV positive and high-risk adolescents; a minimum of 1 year working in research; knowledge of Bay Area Latino youth communities, especially MSM populations; attention to detail; willingness to learn linkage procedures; Spanish language fluency; will work within the community, under the supervision of the ATN 096 program coordinator; able to push/pull up to 25 pounds and carry/lifting 20 pounds. Note: Fingerprinting and background check required Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree; advanced degree - MPH or related field; training in research practices and human subjects and/or 2+ years of former research experience; connections to research community and related community based organizations in Oakland and San Francisco; knowledge of Respondent Drive Sampling methods/research methods.
