Position Summary Software Engineering Manager (SEM) for the OMS Finance team. This position is responsible for all engineering work specific to Financial and payment systems, fraud protection applications , interaction to external payment gateways and interfaces to other applications within the Walmart network. The development team consists of 4 - 5 onshore direct reports and 10 - 15 offshore engineers covering both development and testing (there are QA engineers who reports to the manager as well). Strategically, this role is responsible for the vision and overall direction of the relevant OMS applications. The SEM must align this vision to the company's goals and objectives, and at the same time ensure any initiatives impacting the system/application adhere to the same principle. Tactically, the SEM maintains the progress and productive mutual interaction of various Engineering and user teams to manage risk, and is responsible for delivering on components of a project that reside within his/her domain area.
Position Description Project, Application and Resource Management (50%)
. Accountable for the management of the project life cycle within his/her application/system
. Responsible for delivery of project components that impact OMS applications
. Responsible to see that various team deliverables for projects meet deadlines
. Resolve issues escalated to Software Engineering Manager by business or Product Manager / Project managers
. Consult on the Opportunity Assessment and High Level Design Documents. Specifically to cover feasibility and technical scope of the project. In case of engineering project drive the creation of the above documents
. Ensure key technical components are addressed for projects, such as scalability, load capacity, etc.
. Participate in technical design review meetings
. Create the work breakdown structure which pertains to the application/system, including timelines, dependencies and deliverables
. Partner with Product Manager and Project Manager for risk management and change management issues
