Under the supervision of the Denver Human Services Program Administrator, the Giving and Volunteer Program Coordinator is responsible for working closely with the DDHS staff in order to support their need for recruiting the appropriate volunteer(s) to match a specific individual or team volunteer requirement. Job Responsibilities: New Volunteers:The Volunteer coordinator meets with DDHS staff to understand their need for a volunteer, develops the job description, and actively recruits the volunteer through community outreach and free advertising opportunities. The Volunteer Coordinator interviews applicants and facilitates volunteer orientation, training and on-going support. Scheduling:The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for understanding the volunteer's schedule for assignment and contacts volunteers regarding available opportunities. The Volunteer Coordinator holds monthly volunteer meetings to discuss upcoming events and ongoing activities. Events:The Volunteer Coordinator ensures that special programming and special event coverage is provided and will typically attend those events. For large events, the Volunteer Coordinator may create a separate committee. The Volunteer Coordinator schedules volunteers to represent the organization at expos, seminars, resource fairs and other community programs. Tracking Activity:The Volunteer Coordinator must possess excellent computer skills and be proficient in M.S. Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook; Develops and maintains a volunteer database that will track individual volunteers and volunteer activities. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for all Volunteer appreciation activities and events. Working Conditions: Volunteer Coordinator's office will be located at the Denver Department of Human Services agency. The working hours may differ from time to time depending on the current project. The Volunteer Coordinator may be required to work some evenings and weekends. Qualifications: This is a part-time 20- hour or full-time 40-hour per week commitment. Some traveling may be required.
