Job Description: The successful candidate is responsible for the operation and maintenance of environmental remediation systems. Activities include field sampling, O&M of remediation and monitoring systems, installation of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment, and oversight and supervision of remedial construction activities.Verbal and written records must be kept in an organized, presentable, and reproducible manner. Compliance with Health & Safety requirements and interaction with client and other personnel is mandatory.The successful candidate's rudimentary knowledge of environmental science, chemistry, health & safety, construction, field sampling, well installation, and operation and maintenance of remediation systems will facilitate the understanding and achievement of project objectives. Candidate will analyze and assess site environmental systems and, when necessary, conduct appropriate actions without direction. The successful candidate will assist with the preparation of system design, cost estimation, contracting, and installation of remedial systems.The Environmental Field Technician reports directly to an Austin Infrastructure Department Team Leader and works under the supervision of the appropriate Project Manager/Task Leader on specific projects. There will be involvement in a variety of environmental remediation and compliance projects and direction from project personnel from other offices. Initially, there will be a considerable amount of interaction and direction from the Environmental Superintendent on the Corpus Christi, TX remediation project.The successful candidate will work and communicate effectively in team situations and represent URS in a professional, ethical manner with clients and outside personnel.
