Sr. Design Engineer / Sr. Project Engineer Job in San Juan Capistrano (California, USA, United States)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare complex design layouts for new product designs and design improvements. Creates 2D and 3D CAD models for assemblies and parts.
Perform complex product tolerance studies simple stress analysis tasks and engineering calculations that are reviewed by the responsible engineer.
Select component specifications, interface with Company suppliers.
Identify and solve problems in molding and assembly. Review designs with Tool Engineering to improve productively and cost effectiveness of design concepts.
Responsible for coordinating the generation of all part and assembly drawings. May assist with preparation of formal drawings.
Provide advice and guidance to drafting personnel checking drawings for accuracy and adherence to specifications. May provide assistance in CAD system operation and maintenance.
Provide direction to model shop and testing personnel through verbal and formal written communication.
Assist in the establishment of component Inspection Requirements on part drawings. Interface with Quality personnel to develop inspection plans and gauging requirements.
Generate first draft of product Bills of Materials for review by the Engineer.
Generate Engineering Orders on changes to existing parts and assemblies or release of new parts and assemblies for review by the Engineer.
Coordinate qualification and testing of outsourced products with the Test Department per product specification as directed by the Engineer.
Perform all other duties as required.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
A.A. or A.S. Degree or equivalent.
Nine or more years experience in engineering drafting and design work.
