| Supervision: - The job description and criteria based job performance evaluation emphasizes the criteria expected in the performance of the Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse / Charge Nurse. The Charge Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient care, through the initiation and continuation of the nursing process; a plan of care is developed based upon assessed identified needs. The Charge Nurse works closely with the Patient Care Manager, Medical Staff, the clinical staff, as well as other professional staff, ancillary department members, visitors and families. The Charge Nurse coordinates the care for the patients in ICU. The Charge Nurse is responsible for implementing the physician's orders after they are written. The Charge Nurse (RN) must possess expertise, knowledge, as well as clinical decision-making skills to intervene appropriately for the acute and non-acute patient. The Charge Nurse is responsible for all clinical aspects of nursing care on the unit. The Charge Nurse must demonstrate the ability to respond and provide direction to staff during changing workloads and have the ability to organize, delegate, and oversee work performance of all staff on duty. - Responsible for compliance with overall nursing practice standards of the specialty area (Reports to Department Patient Care Manager) - Responsible for compliance with standards during assigned shift (Reports to Administrative Supervisor) - Uses established principles of delegation and supervision to direct the activities of all licensed and non-licensed care givers and support staff in the delivery of patient care during their assigned shift - Uses independent judgment to ensure optimal delivery of patient care and appropriate use of available resources Qualifications Desired Qualifications- - One or more years experience in desired specialty - CCRN preferred Licenses/Certificates: - License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas. - Completion of 12-Lead EKG / may demonstrate competency through prior experience - BCLS for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association required/maintained throughout term of employment - ACLS provider through American Heart Association required and maintain through length of employment - PALS provider through American Heart Association required and maintain current through length of employment - TNCC required - shows completion upon 12 months of hire date / maintain current throughout term of employment |
