The unit secretary functions as a resource to members of the health care team in matters pertaining to non-direct patient care and is familiar with multiple medical center resources; carries out all aspects of the job using good judgment and problem-solving skills; and assumes the responsibility of self-development within the role. (001196) Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma. Completion of a Health Unit Coordinator program including completion of the internship associated with the program or one year of unit secretary experience required. Other Qualifications: Demonstrates patience and tact in dealing with health team members, patients and visitors. Able to prioritize work under pressure, encountering and tolerating many interruptions. Adapts to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. License or Certification: Health Unit Coordinator certificate and internship evaluation(s) indicating program completion must be attached to the application to be considered.
