Senior IT Systems Database Administrator Job in Rochester (Minnesota, USA, United States)

Job Description:

Under general supervision and guidance, the Senior IT Systems DBA is responsible for the maintenance and support of moderately complex Database systems software at multiple Mayo Clinic sites. The Senior IT Systems DBA will actively monitor and respond to technical database problems utilizing diagnostic testing tools and techniques as well as assist in managing overall database capacity. He/she may interface with vendor support service groups or other external support teams to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. The Senior IT Systems DBA will also be expected is required to produce and maintain documentation such as systems requirements, designs, resource inventories and plans as requested by the work unit leadership; develops proposals that consider alternatives and business case gains needed for comprehensive institutional consideration; works effectively across departmental organizations gaining consensus of stakeholders. Work is reviewed upon completion for quality, timeliness, and adequacy in meeting objectives. Ability to take responsibility and accountability for own activities. Possesses ability to multi-task and prioritize issues appropriately. Must possess human relations skills to interact with a variety of personnel. Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of professional IT Systems DBA experience; or an Associate’s degree and at least 5 years of professional IT Systems DBA experience; or at least 7 years of professional Systems DBA experience.

Other Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred. MCSE, CCNA, or other IT related certifications considered a plus. Masters degree in a relevant technical discipline preferred. Experience working in healthcare technology is preferred. Qualified candidates should have demonstrated system experience in managing large relational DBMS such as Oracle. Oracle 10g or 11g experience managing both custom developed and vendor-supplied applications very helpful.
